Material sources are used for many of ADOT’s
highway construction projects. For any given project, the
contractor supplies the needed materials, by using either
an ADOT-licensed source or a contractor-furnished source.
Whether the material source is an ADOT-licensed source or
contractor-furnished source, it requires environmental approval
prior to every use.
The Environmental Planning
Group oversees the preparation of environmental documents
for all material sources. These documents insure that all
relevant environmental factors are appropriately addressed
and mitigated.
For ADOT-licensed material sources, the initial clearance
document includes the Material Source Environmental Determination.
For contractor-furnished material sources, the initial clearance
document includes the Material Source Environmental Analysis
Application (see photo to the left). For subsequent uses,
the completion of the Environmental Analysis Update form may
be appropriate.
Guidance for these documents are available for
environmental practitioners and contractors through the links
in the right-hand column of this web page. Because the level
of documentation differs between the ADOT-licensed and contractor-furnished
material sources, there are separate links for each type.
